The Fracture of Brittle and Quasi-Brittle Materials:A Survey

The following survey will attempt to summarise some of the prevalent views on the theory, behavior, testing and design of brittle materials. It will concern itself first with the absence of plastic deformation and the origin of fracture, and then review the problems of testing and the characteristic features of brittle behavior.
