PRESSURE-SENSITIVE TAPE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS FOR AIRCRAFT PARTS IN SHIPPING CONTAINERS PART Ⅰ. Laboratory Tests of Suspension Systems

摘要

A suspension system utilizing pressure-sensitive tape in lieu of blocking and bracing or other means of supporting aircraft parts in a shipping con¬tainer was found adequate to pass the rough-handling tests prescribed for military packaging. Methods of attaching the tapes to the container and necessary precautions were determined. The relationship between the weight of the item and the strength required for glass filament-rein¬forced tape was determined and a basis established for the design of tape suspension systems.
