Research Directed toward the Study, Analysis and Design of Transistor Circuits

摘要

This report is concerned with the investigation of the high current mode of transistor operation first described by Thornton and Simmons (A New High Current Mode of Transistor Operation, I. R. E. Transactions on Election Devices Vol. ED-5, January 1958, pp. 6-10). It is concluded that this is an avalanche multiplication phenomenon which allows the collector voltage to become less than the open base breakdown voltage when operated with reverse base current.
