The extremely high cost and shock sensitivity of complex missile system components necessitates elaborate and expensive protective packaging to eliminate damage from shocks sustained in transit.nSince the shock response of components, containers and isolation systems is a function not only of shock magnitude, but also of the duration and waveshape of the shock, the laboratory shock apparatus must be capable of reproducing all three parameters as they occur in the environments.
