摘要

Compatibility conditions for explicit difference schemes for multi-dimensional parabolic equations have been established with the object of securing high order truncation errors. A relationship between the coefficients of the milti-dimensional and the one-dimensional schemes has been deduced which provides a convenient means for their evaluation.nThe response of these high order correct schemes to a special case of the von Neumann criterion, is shown to lead in the case of the classical schemes to the well-known stability limits.
