PROPERTIES OF GLASS FIBERS AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

Static fatigue measurements in dry air at temperatures up to 1300℉ and load durations up to 20 hours were made on E-glass and on the Fiberglas X-37B composition. Tensile strength measurements were made at temperatures up to 2000℉ on production silica fibers obtained from General Electric Company. Preliminary strength measurements were made on silica monofilament from Bjorksten Laboratories.
