Theoretical studies which attempt to follow the motion of an average particle under a Lorenz force provide expressions for the attenuation of electromagnetic waves in ionized media. The resulting equations are fairly complicated, particularly near the critical (plasma-resonance) frequency of interest in flame studies. As a consequence, graphical presentations are utilized to provide for the interpretation of experimental results. The curves are plotted as a single family in a three-dimensional space, thus simplifying the graphical presentation over the usually presented. This single family may be expanded into the usual series of families by relabeling coordinates. The influence of the magnetic field is ignored, since it is normally a negligible factor in flame studies.
