Airborne vehicles must be tracked in ground environment systems for area defense, air traffic control, and terminal area control. When many aircraft are involved, tracking radars are not practical, and the necessary data must be obtained by automatic trackers from a scanning radar.nAll critical parts of a transistorized cartesian coordinate tracker have been designed and tested. The results indicate that it should perform as well as the latest vacuum-tube trackers, but with much greater reliability.
