摘要

The primary aim of this study is to find out if the apparent disagreement between electron kinetic tempera¬tures and ion kinetic temperatures deduced from spectra of coronal emission lines has any real basis. Up to now, electron kinetic temperatures from optical data lie in the range, 0.5 to 0.9 million degrees, while the ion kinetic temperatures run from 1.5 to 3. million degrees. The various other determinations, which will be mentioned in section 2, all have given estimates of the order of 1 million degrees.
