Analysis which includes loss and geometry factors indicates that for the uniform precession mode a thin slab of ferrite magnetized in the plane of the slab should be the best geometry for harmonic generation at millimeter wavelengths. The experimental program was hampered by several equipment dif¬ficulties and the observation of a new phenomenon of permanent disappearance of the second harmonic output due to arcing. An analysis of the modified semi-static mode of amplification in ferrites gives a relation for the pump frequency power re¬quired for oscillation at the signal frequency.
