This report describes the first in a series of eight administra-tions of the Career Motivation Survey (CAi CSUR XI), the purpose of which is to determine how opinions, attitudes, expectations, and career plans of enlisted men develop and change during the course of their first enlistment and to relate this information to the first enlistee's ultimate decision to stay in or leave the Navy.nThis administration took place as part of routine in-processing within a few days after recruits reported to San Diego, Bainbridge, and Great Lakes Naval Training Centers during the period 13 November through 3 December 195T3. For analysis 600 cases were drawn in essen¬tially a random fashion from among 2,382 cases with General Classifi¬cation Scores of 42 and above.
