Studies have been made of the properties of yttrium and the rare earth metals. These have included metallographic studies, oxidation and corrosion resistance studies, mechanical property determination and studies of alloys of titanium and beryllium with rare earth additions,nImproved methods for the production of pure metals are described. A complete metallographic procedure has been devel¬oped. Procedures for the chemical and spectrographic analysis of metals and alloys are provided including a method for oxygen analysis.
