This report presents some methods of stress analysis of thin-walled structures subject to creep. It is assumed that the structures considered are maintained at a uniform temperature so that no thermal stresses are present. It is also assumed that the elastic deformations are negligible in comparison with creep deformations. Under these assumptions, the creep problems of thin-walled structures are first reduced to analogous problems of the same structures made of nonlinear elastic materials. The stress analyses are than carried out with particular reference to structures with closed and open cross sections and subjected to pure torsion, bending, and shear.
