THE ELECTRIC SPARK METHOD FOR QUANTITATIVE MEASUREMENTS IN FLOWING GASES

The operating principle of the technique and the required instrumentation are described. Characteristics of spark discharges are analyzed theoretically and experimentally. A calibration is established for quantitative evaluation of spark photographs. Examples of application are given for subsonic, transonic, and supersonic flow and for investigations of turboroachines.
