A REVIEW OF CERTAIN FERROUS CASTINGS APPLICATIONS IN AIRCRAFT AND MISSILES

This report describes the types of castings that have been made in the past, those that are being made, and the trend of possible casting requirements for future aircraft. The production of castings t aircraft require-ments can be accomplished only when the aircraft designer and the foundryman understand each other’s problems. The aircraft builder has certain design requirements that must be met;equally important, the foundryman has certain production problems that must be understood and resolved in the early design stages of a cast part.
