Structure and Classification in Resource Flow Models

摘要

This paper is a study of the structure, both empirical and theoret¬ical, of resource flow models. It defines the kinds of structure that can exist in a model of the economy;it shows how to determine this structure, and describes the structure of several existing models. Finally, there is a discussion of the relevance of structure for the uses of models, including the implication for the classification problem of resource flow models.nThe term “resource flow models”, used in the title, requires some explanation. As a model, the most developed analysis of resource flows is the interindustry model also called the input-output model, which makes use of a mathematical matrix.
