Single crystals of beta brass containing 0.07 weight percent iron were annealed at 3020 and 400℃ to precipitate the iron. At various stages in the anneals, magnetization curves, hysteresis loops, and torque curves were measured. These magnetic data were analyzed in terms of the concepts of fine particle ferromagnetism to derive size and shape distributions of the iron precipitate particles and the orientations of their crystallographic and shape symmetry axes.
