THE STRUCTURE OF LINEAR POLYMERS LOWER n-HYDROCARBONS

A thorough literature study of previous structure work on n-paraffins has been carried through.nA study of the structure of n-hexane, n-hexptane, and n-octane in the liquid state by means of X-ray diffraction has been started. Complete intensity curves for the three n-paraffins have been recorded with Cu- and Mo-radiation. Focusing quartz momochromator measurements and a symmetrical set up were used in the measurements. The observed incoherent scattering and the fitting of the structure independent background to the observed intensity have been discussed.
