The object of this report is to investigate the heat transfer properties and thermal capacities of several selected liquid mixtures and explore the possibilities of improving the presently used engine coolants with reference to cooling efficiency.nA special calorimeter was constructed and specific heats of glycol-water mixtures, methanol-water mixtures, and methyl ethyl ketone-water mixtures were determined. An apparatus based on the method described by Hutchinson was built and thermal conductivities of these selected mixtures were determined.
