ANALYSIS OF WEBBING IMPACT DATA AND DETERMINATION OF OPTIMUM INSTRUMENTATION TO BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE IMPACTING OF WEBBING

Quantities of data have been obtained at Edwards Air Force Base, California, concerning the impact behavior of nylon webbing. The basic aims of this investigation are:n(1) To evaluate and analyze the methods used to obtain data ac¬quired during nylon webbing impact tests conducted at Edwards Air Force Base, Californian(2) To interpret these data and to judge their reliabilityn(3) To recommend, if necessary, improved or modified testing methods and instrumentation techniques which would result in ob¬taining data of greater value in future tests.nAnalysis and interpretation of the test data indicated that these data were of intermediate reliability. Certain trends were apparent, but rela-tively large experimental scatter existed. Possible causes of the scatter were investigated and recommendations were made for improvement of testing methods, equipment, data reduction technique, and data interpre-tation.
