This study concerns an inventory control model in which the state of the system is reviewed only at discrete, equally spaced time intervals of length T. Procurement decisions are made only at the review times. Such a model will be referred to as a discrete re view model (as opposed -to a continuous re view model in which each demand is recorded, and simultaneously a decision is made as to whether or hot another procurement is needed).nThe operating rules for the model to be discussed here are quite similar to, but not exactly equivalent to S, s policies. Some discussion of this point will be presented later.nAfter developing the general form of the expected costs, the expres¬sions will be worked out in detail for the case of Poisson demands and constant leadtimes. Then the case of Poisson demands and gamma leadtimes will be studied briefly. Finally, the relation of the present model to other steady state models will be presented.
