摘要

The effect of vibration on heat transfer from the inner tube to water in forced axial flow through an annulus was investigated at Reynolds numbers of 5,000 to 28,000. Transverse vibration of the inner tube produced signi¬ficantly increased heat transfer rates. Improvement with annulus ratio of d1/d2= 2 was 560% and 103% at flow Reynolds numbers of 5,000 and -28, 000, respectively. Improvement with d2/d1= 3 was 560% and 122% at flow Reynolds numbers of 5,000 and 24,000, respectively.nAlthough percentage improvement was greater at low flow Reynolds numbers, the economic advantage increased with increasing Reynolds num¬ber. A satisfactory qualitative explanation of the heat transfer mechanisms active in combined axial and oscillating cross flow is presented together with a new correlation.
