Transactions of the Research Conference in Pulmonary Diseases (22nd) Held at the Netherland Hilton Hotel, Cincinnati, Ohio on February 4-7, 1963

These transactions are part of an ongoing series of conferences reporting research on the chemotherapy of tuberculosis sponsored by the Veterans Administration and the armed forces. Reports include presentations on the effect of aluminum hydroxide gel on the blood level of paraminosalicylic acid (PAS), the binding of isoniazid (INH) by serum proteins, calculation of total body intracellular pH in normal human subjects from the distribution of 5,5-dimethyl-2,4-oxazolidinedione (DMO), experimental data on the antituberculous drug phenoxalid. A preliminary report is given on the use of 4-4'diisoamyloxythiocarbanilide together with isoniazid, compared with a combination of streptomycin and INH. Also included is an experimental appraisal of the therapeutic potentialities of ethambutol.
