Index to Scientific Journal Title AbbreviAtions Found in the Physical Review

摘要

The journal title abbreviations which appeared in the footnote references in The Physical Review 1948-58 were collected. Expansions for the 655 abbreviations which could be identified were provided in a form useful for finding the journals in a library. Differentiation among journals with like abbreviated citation forms was difficult. Accurate identification is given in the index by adding notes about dates, series and subsection of issuing body. All the different journals to which an abbreviation could refer are listed. A plea is made for minimum acceptable abbreviated form of journal titles. (Author)
