Preliminary Design of a Diesel-Powered Vapor-Compression Plant for Evaporation of Seawater

摘要

The purpose of the study was to determine whether the combination of diesel engine or a gas turbine with a vapor compressor and a vertical-tube evaporator has good economic potential for desalting a seawater in plants of the 1- to 3-million-gallons-per-day (Mgd) range. The study concentrated on commercially available components which could be applied to a prototype or test bed plant with only a modest development effort. (Author)
