Results of a Preliminary Survey of Candidate Communities for Saline Water Demineralization Applications

Due to the scarcity of fresh water supplies, the effort to treat or convert saline water to fresh has increased in recent years. The necessity of developing lower cost methods of converting previously unusable saline or brackish waters has become of growing importance. Expanded research and the development of new methods and improved techniques in salt water conversion have lowered costs to a level which may be economically comparable with costs of obtaining additional conventional fresh water supplies in certain areas.
