An Automated Meterological Instrumentation and Observing System on a 1000 Ft. Television Tower

The report describes the data collected for the period January 1965 through October 1965 and the results of an analysis of the effects of the tower on the wind field. A climatology of the wind in terms of monthly wind roses at each level of instrumentation is presented . The analysis of tower effects on wind included three methods: (1) an electrical analogy between air flow and current flow, (2) wind tunnel experiments with a model of the tower and smoke trails, and (3) empirical use of the observational data.
