Toxicologic Studies with a New Standard Mithramycin Preparation (Lot No. 3580-53-1)

The toxic effects of buffered solutions of a new standard freeze-dried batch of mithramycin (Lot No. 3580-53-1) were studied in mice and dogs. Intramuscular doses of 1.5 and 3.0 mg/kg of vitamin K provided no protection against 0.1 and 0.2 mg/kg doses of mithramycin in dogs. Administration of 0.2 mg/kg doses every other day did not delay the onset of mithramycin toxicity in dogs. (Author)
