摘要

A brief review of the state of the art is given regarding parameters for alloy selection for cavitation resistance. Elastic-plastic strain energy, a new parameter derivable from an engineering stress-strain curve, is proposed. The proposed parameter is shown to correlate well with observed cavitation resistances of the alloys tested. Several occurrences and observations from cavitation studies described by other investigators can be explained in light of elastic-plastic strain energies and cavitation shock wave intensities.
