The Instruction implements DoD Directive 5100.53 and provides guidance to Department of Defense (DoD) Components with respect to the U.S. participation in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Groups, as defined in DoD Directive 5100.53. The Instruction also supersedes and cancels DoD Instruction 2010.4, April 6, 1964.
