Passage of Rhinovirus 14 strain NIH 1059 at 37C has resulted in a variant which grows as well at 37C as the parent strain does at 33C. The high temperature variant produces rapid CPE and large size plaques in Wi38. Neutralizing antibody to all rhinoviruses isolated from each of two students has been determined. No heterotypic rises occurred. The duration of neutralizing antibody for Rhinovirus 45 has been determined for seven students. A diversity of results was obatined. Sera are being tested for CF antibody to 229E virus. Surveys for two years have been completed. Sera from 1966-67 showed a high proportion of CF antibody increases. About half of these could be associated with URI. Only three isolations of 229E were made during that year. Preliminary results comparing CF and neutralizing antibody responses are presented.
