Estimates of the Proportion of Space Occupied by Roads and Footpaths in Towns

The report describes the results of estimates made of the proportion of space occupied by roads and footpaths within the central areas of six of the towns included in the Laboratory's '48 - town' survey. The results are also given of a further study of three towns in which the relationship between road space and distance from the town centre is examined. (Author)
