Tests of Reinforced Concrete Beams with Cadweld Reinforcing Bar Splices

The object of the investigation was two-fold: (a) To determine from a limited program of tests the behavior of reinforced concrete beams in which all of the tension reinforcement was spliced at the same location with 'Cadweld' connectors; (b) To predict or explain by means of rational analyses the behavior observed in the tests. Two aspects of behavior were considered: (a) The ultimate moment capacity; (b) The load-deflection characteristics throughout the entire range of loading. (Author)
