摘要

The report concerns studies conducted to define an economical sequence of processes for recovering and purifying azeotropic isopropyl alcohol (AIPA) extraction solvent. The rapid development of this system plays a critical role in the program to develop a commercially attractive Fish Protein Concentrate process. The broad objectives of the experimental study were: To conduct analytical studies to define the nature of the contaminants in recycle azeotropic isopropyl alcohol (RAIPA) and to assist processing studies; and To define the suitability of a low-cost RAIPA purification scheme, initially visualized as consisting of evaporation, distillation and, perhaps, adsorption processing steps. In addition, the initial work scope of the contract was expanded to include a number of brief economic analyses that were required to define the direction of the processing studies. Significant progress was made in each of these areas. (Author)
