These transactions are part of an ongoing series of conferences reporting research on the chemotherapy of tuberculosis sponsored by the Veterans Administration and the armed forces. Reports are presented on ethambutol and visual acuity, tuberculostatic activity of rifampin in vitro and in vivo, comparative study of ethambutol and rifampin in the retreatment of multiresistant pulmonary tuberculosis, tuberculosis in U.S. Army personnel from Southeast Asia, inhibition of DNA synthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis BCG by isoniazid, depressant effect of cigarette smoke on protein synthesis in alveolar cells, a hospital outbreak of Serratia marcescens transmitted by inhalation therapy equipment, and Cryptococcus neoformans susceptibility to amphotericin-B.
