摘要

The results of Phase I of a study on mathematical simulation of motor vehicle structures is presented. Mathematical simulation was investigated for use as a qualification procedure in lieu of physical tests to demonstrate compliance with crashworthiness safety standards. An extensive information survey and evaluation was conducted on structural analysis procedures and computer programs. Quasistatic and dynamic methods of analysis were recommended for development. A plan was provided for the development of qualification procedures. (Author)
