The knowledge of problems encountered in the construction and operation of dams, including disastrous failures, is important in designing safer structures in formulating more effective operating procedures. This catalog lists known instances of dam failures and accidents. Information includes bibliographical references and such information as is readily available from existing records. This catalog should serve as a valuable reference document to those interested in information on dam failures. Includes a preface which contains brief introduction, definition of terminology and statement on references. Approximately 600 incidents are listed alphabetically by countries. Catalog consists of 211 pages with an index arranged alphabetically by name of dam. (Author)
