摘要

Factors affecting decarburisation and scaling in continuous billet re-heating furnaces was studied. A practical investigation was made in which furnace conditions and resulting oxidation were measured in thirteen commercial furnaces. It is concluded from the results that time and temperature are the major factors concerned and that other factors are less important. Recommendations are made which would result in an improvement to the quality of re-heated steel. (Author)
