摘要

Stable flies are apparently very sensitive to temperature gradients (15), and any response to radiation would be masked by response to air temperature gradients. Greater levels of irradiance might raise the surface temperatures of stable flies enough to cause the same responses as caused by air temperature gradients.nCallahan (6) proposes that insects may respond only to coherent infrared radiation, such as emitted by lasers, rather than broad¬band radiation such as used in this research. The possibility of coherent radiation being emitted by cattle is presently considered rather doubtful.
