The Impact of Mechanization and Automation on Alienation in the Factory and Office

The following question is explored in the monograph: Does a worker's relationship to technology and division of labor at work influence in a predictable way his integration into or alienation from work. It is predicted that the degree of differentiation in the division of labor at work is related to alienation from work, since evidence exists which demonstrates a negative relationship between functional specialization and job satisfaction.
