摘要

The purpose of the study, undertaken with the basic crashworthiness program, was to determine the probable behavior of a full size rear engine vehicle in frontal collisions. The primary objective of the investigation was twofold: To develop a vehicle configuration that would simulate the behavior of a full size rear engine automobile in frontal collisions, and to modify the frontal structure to produce nearly uniform passenger compartment decelerations in the 30 to 40 g range.
