A Study of Normal Lead Silico Chromate Pigment in Yellow Traffic Zone Paints

The report presents the performance of both modified alkyd and modified alkyd-chlorinated rubber type yellow traffic marking paints which utilize normal lead silico chromate in lieu of the more commonly used medium yellow in the pigment formulations. Field and laboratory tests were conducted on paint samples. Two formulations were developed, based upon a normal lead silico chromate pigment, in which the color was acceptable and the performance similar to that being received from the current standard yellow paint. In addition, the use of a yellow, normal lead silico chromate paint may result in a reduced paint cost. (BPR Abstract)
