摘要

The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether the general assumption that with use of the same cement content that large aggregate produces greater strength than small aggregate is applicable to concrete made with local procedures and materials. This study concluded that with other conditions equal, concrete in which three-quarter-inch maximum size aggregate is used has a greater compressive strength than that in which 1-1/2-inch or 2-inch maximum size aggregate are used when designed with a cement content of approximately six sacks per cubic yard or more.
