Effectiveness of Bituminous Coatings on Corrugated Metal Pipe

More than 500 asphaltic bituminous coated pipes were inspected on highway projects in Kansas. Inside coatings were good on only twelve percent of those pipes three and four years old, and on none of the older ones. Inasmuch as the coatings are usually effective for less than three years, they are of little value, and we recommend that they be discontinued. (Author)
