A Uniform Building Permit Application System Utilizing Computer Technology

The most often required data items on building permit applications have been combined into a standard form. Carbon copies are sent to a coding center where the data is transferred onto optical scan sheets, run onto magnetic tape and processed by a special set of computer programs. The data produced provides for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports by jurisdiction and census tract. This system now covers 67 jurisdictions in one metropolitan area. It is also transferable to others. (Author)
