Airport Environs: Land Use Controls

摘要

It is clear that there is no one single solution to the variety of aircraft noise problems facing the Nation and its urban communities. The goal of a quieter airport and community can be achieved only through a coordinated effort: by reducing noise at the source through quieter engines, by revising aircraft operational procedures to lessen the noise impact and avoid populated areas, and by developing a program of land use planning and controls to achieve compatibility between the airport and its neighbors. This environmental planning paper points out some of the problems, methods, and prospects for achieving the goals of a quieter environment. (Author)
