An Investigation of Oil Fluorescence as a Technique for the Remote Sensing of Oil Spills.

摘要

The feasibility of remote sensing of oil spills by laser-excited oil fluorescence was investigated. The required parameters were measured in the laboratory;these parameters were fed into a physical model to predict signal and background levels;and the predictions were verified by field experiments. Airborne detection,identification,and quantification of oil spills at sea are shown to be feasible with existing equipment,day or night. (Author)
