摘要

The transport of granular materials in the form of a suspension in a fluid medium has been practised for many years but,the equations available to designers are often applicable only to a limited range of the variables encountered in this field. Designers have tended to overdesign and have quite correctly relied on their own practical experience in such specialised fields as grain,flour and sugar conveying,oil refining and chemical engineering. In the need for generalised equations that designers may use with confidence,the present work was undertaken. Of particular interest is the influence of the particle size on the pressure gradient required to maintain the flow of a suspension under conditions of established flow.
