Autogenous Accelerated Curing of Concrete Cylinders. Part V. ASTM Cooperative Testing Program with Additional Emphasis on the Influence of Container and Storage Characteristics (Supplemented by Data on Water Bath Curi ng from an Earlier Council Project).
The report summarizes combined information from two studies;one a State-supported study on hot and boiling water curing methods;and the other,the subject HPR study on Autogenous Curing. Each of the four accelerated procedures is capable of predicting strengths at late ages with accuracy equivalent to that currently achieved with standard moist curing,and the variability of test results from accelerated tests is of the same order as that from conventional procedures. Each of the four methods evaluated has advantages and disadvantages,and the selection of the one to be used is primarily a matter of convenience,economy,and suitability for the specific application. For highway department jobs,the autogenous curing method was judged to be the most practical,and it was recommended that this procedure be given field trials within the Virginia Department of Highways.
