摘要

The increasing application of Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics in the fields of fracture safe design and the investigation of structural failures has increased the need to determine stress intensity factors for practical structural configurations.nThis report presents a method of estimating stress intensity factors for two dimensional cracked bodies using finite element methods which will give results of sufficient accuracy for general engineering purposes and avoid the high costs associated with utilising larger computer systems.
